Thieves Hit New Albany

New Albany residents have reported numerous break-ins and thefts recently, especially along Front Street, the borough’s main thoroughfare.

Between April 21 and 24, three homes on Front Street and Peach Alley were burglarized. Police reports do not specify the items taken.

A man who Laceyville Police described as a priest wearing a collar and his female companion face numerous charges following a May 17 incident at the Wyalusing Borough Park, where, according to a report filed by police officers Matt Chamberlain and Pat Butkiewicz, the two were found having sex in a parking lot near the park’s public playground.

Man Faces Rape Charges

TOWANDA — A man faces a slew of charges after state police said he tried to rape a child in Bradford County.

Troopers said Kayden Sherman, 20, of Wyalusing was arrested Monday.  Authorities accuse him of trying to rape an 8-year-old between March and August of 2008.

Police said Sherman was 15 at the time of the alleged incident.

He was arraigned and is locked up in Bradford County jail.

Woman Arrested for Buying Gun for Man Who Shot Someone

CANTON — State police said a gun used in a murder suicide early in May in Bradford County was given to the suspect illegally.

Kimberly Chisman is facing charges for allegedly buying and giving a gun to her husband Curtis Chisman because he was forbidden, by law, from purchasing one himself.

Troopers said Curtis Chisman used the gun to shoot and kill a woman at a home in Canton, then turned the gun on himself.
